My story

When I was 17, I moved from China to the United States with my mom and four siblings; we were joining our father who had been working in in this country as a cook for 13 years. I was very excited to be able to move to the U. S. but soon realized how painful it was to be in a strange country without knowing the language, culture and without any friends. It took me several years to build my life back to what I would consider normal. Now, I have two beautiful daughters, a loving husband and am surrounded by family and many friends.

I basically taught myself English as I struggled in an American high school.  After graduation from high school, I attended and graduated from an art college in Boston.  I loved my art college! It helped me develop and build my skill set as a designer, helped give me confidence and also gave me the opportunity to meet many people who have become life-long friends.

For nearly two decades I worked as a full-time graphic designer for several corporations. However, I realized that if I wanted to be able to spend more time with my family, especially my girls, I needed to pursue my own dreams - it was the time for me to explore my heart’s desire which is a passion for cooking. I have used this passion and my culinary talents to cater authentic Chinese dinners for local families and friends. Now I would like to expand and share my culinary skills with my community.

Why WestboroKitchen?

WestboroKitchen is named after the town in Massachusetts where my family and I have been living for more than four years.  Westboro is a typical charming, medium-sized New England town 40 miles west of Boston which we immediately fell in love with.  Here we have beautiful natural surroundings, a great school system, convenient shopping, public transportation, a diverse population, and friendly, helpful people.

I am now grateful to call Westboro my home!
